Tom Snow is a graduate of the University of London (BA History of art SOAS/ UCL & MA History of Art UCL). Usually based in London, his main interests include the writing of 20th and 21st century art especially with regards to theoretical formulations surrounding contexts of globalization.
A major survey of New York-based artist Mel Bochner's works is on now at the Whitechapel Gallery: this is an exceptional chance to view works by a seminal conceptual artist. Bochner's works are fleeting and playful with their use of language and colour; and provocative in their questioning of meaning and materials.
The alluring effect in Dan Graham's Pavilion structures makes them almost monumental, and his use of two-way mirror glass prompts the viewer to reflect on the way space is seen and used. Lisson Gallery's exhibition offers the visitor a brief but fruitful engagement with this aspect of Graham's ongoing practice.
