The award-winning Jersualem Quartet performs two of Schubert's most popular works - the passionate one-movement Quartettsatz and the String Quintet.

The quintet, with its sublime slow movement that glimpses death, is one of the top three most requested Desert Island Discs.

The last of Beethoven's early quartets, the set with which he demonstrated his mastery of the form, completes the programme.

The quartet has risen to become one of the world's leading string quartets in little over a decade, winning plaudits for its blend of expressive dynamism and precision of tone and articulation.

'Musical electricity may be unfathomable, but one thing is for sure - they have it.' (The Strad)

'A quartet that belongs in a higher realm.' (Philadelphia Inquirer).
