Seasons of Love, supported by Welcome to Yorkshire and Good Housekeeping, is a gala celebration in words, music and film of the achievements of the original Calendar Girls, and gives Calendar Girls fans throughout the UK the chance to say thank you to 6 incredible women.
The Calendar Girls were inspired by the death of a dearly loved husband and friend, John Baker, to make the first ever “Alternative WI Calendar”. In the 13 years since then The Girls have raised nearly £3 million for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and have been the inspiration for the award winning film starring Julie Walter and Helen Mirren as well as the most successful UK touring play ever.
With the City of London Philharmonic Orchestra and The West End Chorus, the show will take us through an emotional journey of beautiful performances, shared memories, tears and laughter. With surprise special appearances from some of the many people that the Girls have met over the years.
Seasons of Love will be created and directed by Hugh Wooldridge and his team who have supported Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research with ANTHEMS: The Concert with Kerry Ellis and Brian May in 2010 and The Night of 1000 Voices. Writer of the Calendar Girls film and play, Tim Firth, has kindly agreed to support the show. Hugh’s long-time colleague, the distinguished West End maestro Kevin Amos, will conduct; and evocative projections will be thanks to The Calendar Girls original photographer, Terry Logan.
