Music & Words: Victoria Bourne & Chris Harper A woman chainmaker and a journalist tell the story of The Chainmaker’s Strike of 1910. Chain making women, who were known as the ‘white slaves of England’, won a landmark victory that established the first minimum wage in this country. Their story is told through a haunting aural tapestry of soprano, spoken text, guitar and sampler.
