National Youth Ballet celebrates its silver jubilee with a programme of eight exceptional works including the world premiere of Jo Meredith’s 25, a piece commissioned to commemorate the successes of the company since its founding. Set to the joyous and lyrical music of Malcolm Arnold, 25 will feature an array of characters, from the company’s first ballet Pedro the Parrotthrough to the more recent Rainbow Bear. While paying homage to the company’s classical roots, this brand new work will also capture the energy and exuberance of National Youth Ballet.
Other works on the bill include Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra,Ship Ahoy, Toad, Colour Crazy, Diamonds on the Soles of her Shoes,Alumni and OMOL.
National Youth Ballet is made up of talented young dancers from all over the country and from all walks of life. They are involved in every aspect of creating each ballet, from concept through to performance.
