Ceramics in the City returns to the Geffrye this September, once again bringing together a wide range range of selected potters from around the country, a mix of both leading names and rising talents.
An exciting array of work will be on sale, from classic tableware and other functional domestic objects to purely decorative and quirky one-off pieces, showcasing a wide variety of techniques, styles, textures and colour. Delicate, thrown porcelain will be displayed alongside earthy stoneware and imaginative hand-built pieces. Cool white glazes will provide contrast to colourful painted vessels. Prices will range from £10 for mugs and small objects to several hundred pounds for large-scale work. A selection of images of exhibitors’ work can be viewed at Ceramics Gallery.
The show will take place in the Geffrye’s contemporary gallery. Visitors will have the opportunity not just to browse and buy, but also to meet the makers and watch free demonstrations. Craft activities will be run to entertain children on Saturday and Sunday. A special preview evening will be held on Thursday 20 September from 6.00 - 8.30pm. The restaurant will be open serving drinks and snacks.
