Inspired by Handel’s oratorios whilst in London, Haydn set The Creation to text originally intended for Handel himself, taken from John Milton’s Paradise Lost, the Book of Genesis and the Book of Psalms. This renowned oratorio, depicting the creation of the world, is considered to be one of the masterpieces of the classical era. Haydn brings each part of the story to life, with expressive orchestration and vivid imagery. Sung in English.
