Win a pair of tickets to the opening night of:

MIMETIC 2013, the annual festival of international puppetry, cabaret and visual theatre at the Dugdale Centre, Enfield.

Enfield’s second annual celebration of the wilder side of performance returns to the Dugdale Centre with a lineup of over 30 performances spanning a range of art forms with artists from across the UK and  around the world.

Finger in the Pie has commissioned two pieces of theatre to headline the programme: Pinocchio by Pants on Fire, and No Place Like by Le Mot Juste. Award winning actor-musician company Pants on Fire set the adventures of the little wooden fibber in a 1950's Sci-Fi Horror B-Movie, with a barbershop dubstep mash-up soundtrack, man-size puppets, original live songs and flamboyantly lo-tech extravagant storytelling, and No Place Like celebrates the everyday experiences and lifelong memories of an older generation living in care homes.

Other theatre includes the retelling of classics with Paper Cinema’s highly acclaimed The Paper Cinema’s Odyssey and Finger in the Pie’s Moby Dick. German company Sparkle and Dark present Killing Roger, a story of an unlikely friendship told through puppetry and music, and Spanish company Teatro En Vilo stage their award-winning show Interrupted.

A varied programme of cabaret includes everything from burlesque, basques and boys in girls' clothes to sock puppets, spoofs and strange men rummaging in bins from artists such as Chalk Dust Cabaret, Myra Dubois, EastEnd Cabaret and Michael Twaits.

The comedy programme is presented by Such Small Portions, who will be sharing their picks of the Edinburgh Fringe Comedy, including Jay Forman, Rachel Parris, Jonny and the Baptists, Luisa Omielan, Chris Dangerfield and Tony Law.

For the first time at Mimetic 2013, One Stop Arts will be running awards for the Best Ensemble, Best Director, Best Music, Best Design, Best Cabaret Performance, Best Performance by a Puppet, Best Emerging Company, Mimetic First (Best Premiere), and Outstanding Contribution, as well as Best Family Show, Best Cabaret and Best Theatre Show, judged by the audience. The Onesies will be a celebrating of the best of the festival, and will be awarded on July 27.
