Down on Lucha: Tanzi Libre at Southwark Playhouse

It's certainly novel for Southwark Playhouse to open their new space in Borough/Elephant and Castle with Claire Luckham's Trafford Tanzi, which features live wresting, but the resulting show is all flash and no substance, with a number of weak elements not quite making up for the excitement generated by setting a musical/play in a luchador ring.

Margaret Harrison: On Reflection at Payne Shurvell

Margaret Harrison, a well-known feminist artist now in her 70s, displays new work at Payne Shurvell gallery. From a reproduction of the famous Hugh Heffner-bunny girl drawing (which mysteriously went missing in the 1970s) to works that hold up a mirror to society and its stereotypes, this is an exhibition that urges self-reflection.

Blame Canada: Black River Falls part of the Generation Game at The Yard Theatre

Part of a collection of new writing currently on at funky indie venue The Yard Theatre in Hackney, the shows are currently running from April 30 to 6 July as part of The Generation Game.

Baroque on the high seas: Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and Carolyn Sampson at Lufthansa

This year's Lufthansa Festival of Baroque Music closed with an excellent concert from the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and soprano Carolyn Sampson at St John's Smith Square. With a convincing nautical theme, the concert was a real coup, and it was  privilege to attend.

Funny and moving production that side-steps clichés in favour of a nuanced representation of old age and connecting with family. Potentially sentimental, it is actually just genuinely moving. Showing some promising new talent alongside brilliantly experienced acting, with a few tweaks to the script, this would be perfection.
